Cannot allocate surrogate display memory or unable to create image directory error
This error is XDR's missing images error. This means that the workstation displaying this error cannot reach the PatientImages folder on the server
Since this error just means the workstation cannot reach the PatientImages folder on the server, here are some things to try:
- Try to browse to the PatientImages path on the server in Explorer (e.g. \\SERVER NAME\XDR\PatientImages) from the affected workstation.
- You might be prompted to enter credentials. Enter their server credentials and check the box to save credentials.
- If explorer shows you the contents of the folder, all is well and you should now be able to view images in XDR.
Some alternate things to look for if the above steps do not resolve the issue:
- Check the Windows Credentials Manager (Control Panel\User Accounts\Credential Manager) and click on the Windows Credentials tab. Try clearing out stored credentials for the server as the stored credentials may have an outdated password or incorrect username.
- Log into the server and check the Windows share and security permissions on the XDR folder.
- Check for a hosts file on the workstation (located at
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts) as that may be in use. - Make sure the server's name is resolving to the correct IP address, as the issue may be a problem with DNS resolution.
