How to import emailed X-rays into a patients account
If you wish to Import an image into XDR from a file on your computer, make sure the images you want to import are any of the file types: .JPG, .BMP, .TIF, .RAW, .DXS, .DDX, .HDG, .DCM, .XDR and .PDF (viewed externally), Once you are certain that you are importing the correct image file type, open the XDR account for the patient you would like to import for.
Step 1: Once you are in the Patient Exams screen, click on the New Exam button
Step 2: Double-click on a layout in the exam layouts menu
Note: Choose a layout that gives you enough image placement tiles for the images you want to import. So, if you have 4 images to import, choose a layout that gives you at least 4 placement tiles.
Step 3: Click on the Import button.
Note: You will be presented with a dropdown menu, as seen below, with different options for importing.
- If you want to import an image from an Intra-oral camera, choose the “Video” option.
- If you want to import an image from a scanner connected through a TWAIN, choose “Scanner”.
- If you want to import an image from a file on your computer, choose “File”.
- Lastly, if you want to paste an image from your clipboard into XDR, choose “Paste From Clipboard” option.
For this example, we will choose the “File” option.
Step 4: Select File
When you click on the “File” option, you will be presented with a window similar to the one below.
Step 5: Select the “Folder” you would like for XDR to “Look in”.
Step 6: Select the image file(s) you would like to import and then click on the open button.
Note: Once you have imported the image or images you want into the correct patient’s account, it is important to write a note of where the images came from and input the correct date of when the images were actually taken. Do this by clicking on the Write Notes button.
Step 7: Save the imported images and your exam note by clicking on the Save to Records button located at the top left of the screen.
